Enhancing the value of renewable means maximising the amount of energy that can be generated and sold locally. This could be done in various ways including:
- using the current installations moreeffectively
- matching demand to generation where possible
- effective use of storage if required
- minimising the burden on existing infrastructure
To maximize the value of renewable energy generation all generated energy should be used within Bristol. This lowers transmission losses and ensures the value stays within Bristol. As renewable energy is intermittent and not predictable the flexibility needs to come from the demand side. This will take the form of demand side management and energy storage. Also important in enhancing value is to minimise the burden on the local network infrastructure.
|For Now|| Gather information about the generation intermittency of existing installations.
Try to gain an understanding of current usage patterns of domestically generated electricity i.e is generated electricity being used at home or being exported.
Use prominent art installation to highlight intermittency.
| Try to ensure optimum efficacy of renewable installations.
Raise awareness of benefits of using rather than exporting locally generated electricity and methods of doing so.
